1. a mixture of oil and resin obtained especially by tapping any of certain pine trees.
2. a volatile oil obtained from this mixture by distilling; oil or spirits of turpentine. Turpentine is used in mixing paints and varnishes and in medicine. Formula: C10H16
–v.t.
1. to treat, mix, or smear with turpentine.
2. to obtain crude turpentine from (trees).
